The Bunker Overfill Protection automatically limits bunker pressure and automatically prevents overfill/overflow during all bunkering operation including bunker trimming and fuel treatment. Function: During the bunker operation the system pressure in the bunker piping is automatically controlled to the maximum permissible bunker pressure, irrespective of the supply pump pressure.
Bunker overflow is safely prevented by the 2-stage bunker safety valves (with approval as QCV quick closing valve). The bunker safety valves are controlled by pre- and high level set points provided by the bunker contents gauge. The pre level signal will close the first stage of the bunker safety valve to reduce the flow rate to 30 %, this permits slow top up und prevents excessive pressure surges in the bunker piping. The high level signal will close the bunker safety valves fail safe. In the unlikely event and as added safety the pressure control valve will close immediately in case the bunker safety valve does not send a closure signal. The pressure control valve will also close if the additional and separate high level signal should be activated. | Because of the assured safety against overfill, the classification bodies permit bunker overfill protection design without overflow bunker and large sized overflow piping. The requirement is for bunker vent piping of 1/3 of the bunker pipe cross section, however at least 50 mm. - Type Approval Certificate Nr.: 04/20010
